Tomato @Rs.80

I wonder quite often about this paradox.  On one hand, we have prices of essential commodities soar and on the other hand, we have famers suicide

I was discussing with my friend today about prices and he told me that he has purchased tomato @Rs.80 per kg.  I also happened to read an article that farmers sell tomato to traders/middlemen @50 paise per kg and if the farmer asks Re1, then the trader/middlemen refused to take the produce.  Tomato being perishable item, farmers are forced to sell it and in the above article, farmers threw the produce in highways as form of protest

Only if farmers are given access to the cold storage, only if farmers are given access directly to the customers, only if farmers are free from the middlemen, only if we also does not argue for 50 paise or 1 rupee reduction with road side vendors, only if......Oh...come on, we cannot stop farmers suicide with so many ifs and buts...
